Music in St Marien

The Lübeck Evening Music, the oldest concert series in the world, remains a central event in our programme to this day.

The latest organ music series, "Orgelpunkt 12", was launched by Marienorganist Johannes Unger in 2019.

Our musical highlight each year is the Lübeck Buxtehude Days, a festival of Baroque music.

In addition, the church music at St Marien offers cycle concerts, the Lübeck Organ Summer with performers from all over the world, the Lübeck Boys' Choir, the Capella St Marien, the Wandelkonzert between all Lübeck city centre churches, and musical accompaniment for all church services and midday devotions in summer at St Marien.

You are warmly invited to experience this great and perhaps unique diversity.

Music and culture at St. Marien

You make the difference: support church music

St Marien is a place of music with a significant tradition. One notable example is Dieterich Buxtehude, the great master of North German Baroque organ music.

To this day, not only is this tradition upheld, but church music from all eras is performed. Organs, choirs and ensembles ensure a diverse cultural life in Lübeck.

Support this important area of our culture, which connects the past, present and future in a moving way, with your donation.

You will of course receive a donation receipt from us.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

International Buxtehude Society

The International Dieterich Buxtehude Society (IDBG) has set itself the task of preserving and promoting the music of this great Baroque organist and composer; it also encourages further research into his life, work and milieu.

This goal is served by supporting or organising events and concerts, as well as by the Buxtehude Studies, which are published every two years.

To achieve this, we need the help of as many people as possible. That is why we ask you to become a member of the IDBG. Download the form, fill it out and send it to us. We look forward to welcoming you among us.
