Highlights: Don't miss this

  • Oh, how loud - Easter ringing:
In addition to our bell simulator, you can now also try out our Carillon (Glockenspiel) yourself. And at Easter you can be right there in the belfry at full peal on Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday!

  • Oh, how beautiful:
That's what you're sure to say about the finds at our flea market. From April to September, a flea market is held between St Marien and the town hall on the first Saturday of every month from 10 am to 3 pm. Food and drink will be there, too. In case of bad weather, the flea market will take place in the church

  • Organ concert:
On Saturday, 12 April at 7:30 pm we invite you to the peace and memorial concert "et in terra pax". St Marien's organist Johannes Unger and St Marien's pastor Inga Meißner commemorate the destruction of Lübeck in the Second World War in 1942

  • Orientation:
Our free church tours will start again on Monday 14 April. Our volunteer team is looking forward to welcoming curious guests - will you be there?

News from St. Marien

For 800 years, St Mary's Church has been a place for the citizens of Lübeck to pray, celebrate church services and other city events. This is where people draw hope and where identity is formed.

The church is open 365 days a year: For you and all people in search of God. Lübeck's council, merchants' and citizens' church is a place for worship and prayer, art and culture, discussion and dialogue, for voluntary work and commitment. For Lübeck, its people and for the glory of God.

Into the future

Following the reconstruction of the church 80 years ago, another major renovation is now due. The windows, the paintings, the brickwork and the temperature control are just some of the extensive tasks. You can find all the information about this major project in our blog.

News from Lübeck's city centre churches

The churches in Lübeck's city centre in Romanesque and Brick Gothic style not only characterise the city skyline, known as the city crown, but also the cultural life of the city's society. Strong traditions have their place here: music, seafaring, spirituality, art and liturgy, worship culture and diaconal commitment. Unrivalled diversity, shaped by the people of Lübeck. With plenty of space and happy anticipation of enthusiastic supporters.
